Description

We leave from Barcelona to visit the village of Besalú. Besalú is considered one of the most beautiful in Spain by National Geographic magazine, and of course one of the most photogenic, especially the old bridge of Besalú. It is believed to have been built in the eleventh century on a Roman bridge, but was rebuilt in the fourteenth century. After the destruction it suffered in the civil war it was rebuilt again. It consists of two angled spans and in the center is the tower with a small arch. We visited the center of the city, flooded with streets and facades as part of its medieval heritage. During the tour we visit the ecclesiastical monuments found in the town, such as the churches of Sant Pere, Santa Maria and Sant Vicenç, which alternate Romanesque and Gothic elements. Meanwhile, in the Jewish quarter you can visit some medieval baths, dedicated to the Hebrew ritual ablutions. After this medieval walk, we will approach the Costa Brava. We will reach one of the routes of the famous Cami de Ronda, an ancient path used by the ancient settlers to protect themselves from pirate attacks. We will discover a 1.5 km walk, interspersed with small coves, where crystal clear waters are part of the landscape. It will be time for lunch on one of the terraces overlooking the sea. Another environment that will not go unnoticed is the Monumental area of the Lighthouse of Sant Sebastian, where the ancient Iberian settlers, made a settlement. Not far from this area is the site of Ullastret, the most important Iberian settlement of ancient Hispania. Other panoramic views of the Costa Brava To end the day, we will move to the medieval village of Pals, another must on our tour. In Pals you can stroll through its narrow streets that will transport you to another era. We will visit the Torre de les Hores, with an impressive viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the surroundings. Finally, we will close this adventurous day by returning to Barcelona.
