Description

In this tour we combine 2 of the most historic villages of Catalonia. One of the most beautiful villages in Spain, according to National Geografic with a medieval coastal village, led by its castle. We will start your day early in the morning in Besalú, a well preserved medieval village known for its impressive architecture and historical atmosphere. Upon arrival, we will cross the famous fortified bridge dating back to the 11th century, an iconic structure that offers photogenic views of the river and the village. Once you've crossed the bridge, we'll explore the center of town, which feels like a trip back in time with its cobblestone streets and ancient buildings. We will walk through the streets and the old Jewish Quarter. Among other gems is a Jewish ritual bath dating back to the 12th century, one of the few of its kind preserved in Europe. We continue through the Plaza Mayor, where you can see the church of Sant Vicenç and other medieval buildings. On the way back we will take time to stroll through the small stores selling handicrafts and local products. We will take our vehicle to the town of Tossa de Mar. There, a Mediterranean Paella awaits us overlooking the sea. Paella, an emblematic Spanish dish, is perfect for sharing and enjoying a relaxing lunch after a morning of sightseeing. After the spectacular lunch, we will take the opportunity to explore the Vila Vella, the old walled town of Tossa, and its castle. This area is the only remaining fortified medieval town on the Catalan coast and offers spectacular sea views from its walls. Tossa de Mar is also known for its beautiful beaches and excellent cuisine, especially seafood dishes. We will walk through the narrow cobblestone streets, and have free time to browse the small stores and cafes in this picturesque setting. Finally, we will close this adventurous day by returning to Barcelona.
